The Griffith Centre for Personal Finance and Superannuation (GCPFS) an initiative of the Griffith Business School. Our roots trace back to 2004 when we were established as the Academic Centre for Financial Independence and Education. Over the years, we have witnessed the remarkable surge in interest surrounding Superannuation and Financial Advice, which has motivated us to continuously evolve and thrive in this dynamic and demanding landscape.

At the GCPFS, we are dedicated to conducting innovative and top-tier research projects that delve into the realm of consumer investment, spending, and overall household financial management behaviour. Value and Impact of Advice

Receiving professional and timely financial advice is of importance to consumers as they navigate through the swings and roundabouts of life.  However, a lack of understanding of financial advice and the value it can deliver to clients, poses barriers to improving low levels of advice uptake globally.

This program of work sets out to explore the value advice for consumers in various contexts over time.

ASIC Financial Capability Research Network

Griffith University is an active member of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's (ASIC's) Financial Capability Research Network which brings together researchers from over 110 organisations . The Network delivers initiatives aligned to the National Financial Capability Strategy.

We are committed to disseminating our research findings through our publications. Our goal is to be able to share and transfer our bank of knowledge with industry, government organisations and the general public.

Our members have advised a number of national and international organisations on the strategic and technical aspects of personal finance and superannuation and had their research funded by competitive granting schemes, government and industry granting agencies and consultancies.

Financial Planning Research Journal

The Financial Planning Research Journal, an ABDC C-ranked journal, provides an academic platform to discuss issues around personal financial planning and wealth management, changes in the financial planning industry and the notion of professionalism in personal finance within Australia.

Published twice a year, the Centre assists in the production of the journal on behalf of the Financial Planning Association of Australia.
