Hear what our leaders have to say about the program

The Program has provided me with so many incredible opportunities and has encouraged me to reach for goals over and above anything I ever thought I could achieve. International community engagement

Griffith Business School is committed to developing globally responsible leaders. As part of the GBS Student Leadership Program, student leaders are offered the unique opportunity to participate in an overseas experience, meeting and working with local communities. The international community engagement project allows students to immerse themselves in a cultural exchange and gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of their role in the global community.

As part of the international community engagement project beginning in 2013, students have travelled to Laos, Borneo, Nepal and India.

Making an impact within our community with the Little Spark Project

FareShare Australia

In 2023 a group of dedicated student leaders came together to volunteer their time through the Little Spark Project. Over two nights, the students helped prepare over 6,000 meals with FareShare Australia, one of Australia’s largest non-profit kitchens.

Now in its third year, the Little Spark Project inspires GBS Student Leaders to think creatively about how they can support communities facing various challenges.

The Centre for Women Co

In 2022 GBSSLP delivered a community engagement project to help support The Centre for Women Co. Our vision is to achieve social justice for all women by promoting equity, respect, safety and diversity in our communities.

The GBS Student Leaders delivered over 100 bags to the Centre for Women.  Including GoBags for Women, GoBags for children (ages ranging from toddler to teenager) and bags to help women attend training sessions to help build their self-esteem and learn new skills.

Alzheimers Qld

In 2021 GBSSLP delivered a community engagement project to help support the work of Alzheimer's QLD. Founded in 1983, Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is Australia’s largest dementia association, which also caters to older Australians requiring loving care and support.

As a fully ‘inclusive’ organisation, we strive to create meaningful lives, by tailoring a person’s living arrangements and lifestyle to best meet their, or their loved one’s needs.
