Dean and Head of School

The School, led by Professor Robert M. Love, has an internationally recognised staff profile that delivers high standard contemporary-based clinical and Higher Degree Research programs in a stimulating and challenging intellectual environment. The School provides a suite of programs to train dentists, dental specialists, dental technicians, dental prosthetists who are at the forefront of oral health education, enabling students to become competent and caring health practitioners who will meet changing community needs. Central to the vision of the School is our Centre for Personalised Oral Health and Craniofacial Research that undertakes cutting-edge research that is directly applicable to contemporary oral health practice, with particular emphasis to the economic, social and cultural well-being of Australia and the greater Asia-Pacific region.

Our Remarkable Alumni

Dr Mohit Tolani

2017 Outstanding Young Health Alumnus of the Year

Dr Mohit Tolani graduated as a dentist from Griffith University in 2016. In addition to working as a public dentist Mohit has collaborated on a number of projects in a volunteer capacity, started the SheppHealth project and provides a regular mobile dental service to elderly residents in the region where access to this service is difficult or unavailable.

Dr Ajitha Sugnanam

2016 Outstanding Overall Health Alumnus of the Year

Upon graduating in 2010, Ajitha took up a position within the Australian Defence Force. Recently promoted to Squadron Leader in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), she is one of only four active dentists to hold such a distinction. Ajitha provides her professional services to NATO and also provides humanitarian support in remote areas by organising health camps, which she self-funds.

Dr Michael Baker

2016 Outstanding Health First Peoples Alumnus of the Year

As a student, Michael who is an Indigenous Birri-Gubba-Yuggera man, was instrumental in setting up free dental clinics in remote Cherbourg through Hope4Health. Graduating in 2015, he now runs a successful dental practice in Toowoomba where he continues to provide free dental services for local charities for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

Dr David Houston

2016 Outstanding Health Young Alumnus of the Year

Dave graduated in 2008 in the foundation class of Griffith’s Dentistry program. He is now Operations Manager and CEO of three practices in Queensland employing 10 dentists, several of whom are Griffith graduates. Dave has also co-founded a successful online marketplace and education platform for dental clinics around Australia, to compare and order dental supplies.
