Study Abroad at Griffith
Griffith's Study Abroad program welcomes students from all over the world who wish to study at Griffith for one or two trimesters. Study Abroad students pay tuition to Griffith and apply directly, through a Study Abroad partner university or a Study Abroad agent or provider.
How to apply
1. Check you meet academic entry requirements
To be eligible for Griffith's Study Abroad program, students must meet the following requirements:
- be at least 18 years old
- have an above average overall Grade Point Average (equivalent to 4.5 on Griffith's 7.0 scale)
- Postgraduate students: have successfully completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelors Degree.
Please note: Students straight from high school may be eligible for this program and will be assessed against different entry requirements to those listed above. Please refer to Schedule C: Griffith Academic Entry Requirements by Country policy or contact the Inbound team for more information.
2. Check you meet English language entry requirements
If you are from a non-English speaking background, you must provide proof of English language proficiency:
Undergraduate students

| TOEFL iBT | a minimum overall score of 71 (with no sub-score less than 19 in writing and 17 in all other skills) |

| C1 Advanced | a minimum overall score of 169 (no score less than 162) |
| C2 Proficiency | a minimum overall score of 169 (no score less than 162) |
| PTE Academic | Overall Score of 50, no sub score less than 42 |
Postgraduate students

Please note the following:
- English test results must be no more than two years old from the trimester commencement date.
- Each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, you will be notified if higher English requirements apply for your course selection.
3. Select courses
Search for available courses on our Course Finder. You will nominate up to six courses in your Study Abroad application and these will be assessed through our Course Approval process once your application is submitted. Your academic transcript will be used to assess whether you meet any course prerequisite requirements. If further information is required to make this assessment, such as detailed course profiles, you will be notified by your Admissions Officer.

4. Prepare supporting documentation
As part of your Study Abroad application, students will need to submit the following supporting documentation:
- copy of the most recent official academic transcript (including academic grading scale)*
- proof of English language proficiency (if required)
- copy of passport
*Students may be asked for certified copies of the documentation listed above, i.e. signed and stamped by a home university representative.
Please note: Students who choose to study fine art, photography, or music courses at the South Bank campus may be required to submit a portfolio or audition files.
5. Apply online
Students can apply online or via a registered agent or provider.
Direct students:
- Apply online using Griffith's International Online Application System. Certified copies of your official academic transcript and proof of English proficiency (if applicable).
Students applying through an agent or provider:
- One of Griffith's registered international agents or providers in your country will assist you and submit your application on your behalf.

The application process
1. Submit online application
Your online application will be assessed to ensure you have met the entry requirements and provided all required supporting documentation. Your eligibility will also be assessed for the courses (subjects) you selected in your application.
If successful, you will receive a notification of your Letter of Offer. For direct applicants this will be issued from our International Online Application System. If you have applied via a recruitment agent or your study abroad provider they will notify you.
2. Accept and pay
Upon receiving your Letter of Offer, your next step is to ensure the conditions of offer (if any) have been met, then you can accept and pay. Griffith International will then confirm payment of your tuition deposit, finalise your application and issue your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
3. Apply for student visa
Your CoE, and other important enrolment information will be uploaded and available from our International Online Application System if you applied directly, otherwise your recruitment agent or your study abroad provider will send you this documentation. On receipt of your CoE, please verify that the information is correct and then apply for your visa.
Please note: We will normally issue your CoE within 2 business days, provided all required documentation has been received.
4. Prepare for your studies
You will be eligible to enrol and plan your timetable once enrolment opens and you have received your Welcome to Griffith email, which includes a link to register for myGriffith. myGriffith is your student portal.

Our second teaching trimester for 2023 runs from Monday, 17 July 2023 July to Friday 13 October 2023. Exams conclude on Saturday 28 October 2023.

Trimester 3
Our third teaching trimester for 2023 runs from Monday 30 October 2023 to Friday 9 February 2024. Exams conclude on Saturday 24 February 2024.
