What to book

We recommend you organise temporary accommodation for your first few days or weeks in Queensland. This will give you time to inspect and organise your long-term accommodation after you arrive in Australia, to ensure you are choosing a living and study environment that suits your needs.

1. Temporary accommodation

Before you leave home, book accommodation for your first few nights in Australia.

2. Airport pickup

Book your airport transfer at least 72 hours before you leave.

3. Long-term accommodation

Choose where to live long-term and find a place that feels like home.

Temporary accommodation

There are many short-term accommodation options located near each of our campuses that are easily accessible by public transport. When booking accommodation let the staff know you are a Griffith University student as they may offer a discounted student rate. The following websites provide a range of accommodation options in the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas.

Airport pickup service

Have a friendly face to meet you at the airport when you arrive in Australia! Griffith offers a free airport pickup service for all new international students arriving in Australia for the first time. The service can also be arranged for non-student friends or family travelling with you at cost.

It is available from both the Brisbane and the Gold Coast airports. We recommend that you book this service online at least 72 hours before you leave.

Note: If you are under 18 you must book airport reception as part of your arrival arrangements.

Private Off-campus

Sharing a house or apartment with a number of other students is the most common form of off-campus accommodation. You will need to consider:

  • the cost of rent (usually advertised weekly)
  • if utilities are included in your rent (electricity, water, gas)
  • if internet is included in your rent
  • if the accommodation is furnished
  • how close the accommodation is to your campus
  • access to public transport
