The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade administers the New Colombo Plan (NCP) mobility grants scheme.

New Colombo Plan

The NCP is aimed at lifting the Indo-Pacific knowledge of students through study and internships in the region and is open to Australian university undergraduates aged 18-28, with capacity to include some students over 28. Types of funded mobility experiences include trimester or short-term study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research, and they can be undertaken in 40 host countries across the Indo-Pacific region.

Griffith University

The University’s central contact point for NCP funding applications and administration is Ms Shelly Maller, Manager, International Partnerships. Administrative support, project application submission and reporting related to successful projects, which is undertaken through the Government’s online system, is provided through the Griffith Global Mobility office.

Funding rounds operate annually, with NCP normally opening in February and closing in May.

An internal panel, chaired by Professor Sarah Todd, Vice President (Global), reviews all applications and provides feedback prior to the Griffith Global Mobility Office making the University’s overall submissions.
