The Research Development team supports researchers at Griffith to develop large-scale research grant funding opportunities and strategically important partnerships that increase the University’s research income, reputation and impact. Partnerships can include industry, government agencies, other universities, philanthropic foundations, plus more.

TEAM ROLE

The Research Development team consists of four Research Development Managers and is led by the Head, Research Development. The Head, Research Development is responsible for implementing and managing Griffith's strategic research development goals. The Research Development Managers work on major strategic competitive grant schemes and strategic partnerships, as well as other key schemes that align with Griffith’s strategic priorities.

The Research Development team works closely with the Senior Manager Research Partnerships, Griffith Enterprise, Office of Vice President Industry and External Engagement and Advancement to assist researchers when engaging with partners for major competitive grants.

The team also run workshops to facilitate research collaboration.

The Research Development team support a range of development activities, including:

  • strategic planning and support for future major research grant opportunities​;
  • project management and consultancy on major competitive bids;
  • review and strategic feedback on significant major competitive bids;
  • targeted training and information sessions​ (in collaboration with academic areas);
  • facilitate and support collaborations across disciplines and external partners.

The Research Development team does not handle consultancy, commercial research or projects procured through tenders. Please contact our colleagues at Griffith Enterprise for assistance with commercial opportunities.

ALLOCATION

Research Development Managers are allocated specific academic areas, but can also work flexibly with researchers outside their allocated area.
