Learn more about taking a leave of absence and how to apply

The leave of absence application process differs depending on what type of student you are.

Leave of absence is only available for current students who have completed at least one trimester of study. If you are a new student and wish to start studying at a later date, please refer to deferring your offer.

What is a leave of absence?

A leave of absence is a break that eligible current students can take from their studies. During a leave of absence, you retain your place in your program and re-enrol in your courses when you return.

Domestic students can request a leave of absence for up to two trimesters throughout their program. International students can request a leave of absence under certain circumstances and for a period of up to one trimester.
