Decisions matter to you and the University as they affect your experience as a student. Griffith University tries to create a learning environment and culture that supports productive learning; however, it’s acknowledged that at times you may not agree with an academic decision made in relation to your studies or an administrative decision in relation to you as a student. We want your experience at Griffith University to be positive. You have a right to let us know of concerns about the decisions we make.

When seeking a review or appeal of a decision it's helpful to refer to the policy and procedures which inform the process. These include the schedule of decisions that can be reviewed and appealed (for specified decisions) and the associated timeframes.

What is the University's process for requesting a review or an appeal of a decision?

Understanding the decision (Pre-Review)

Students must informally contact the decision-maker (as noted in the decision outcome) in person or in writing to obtain an explanation of the decision, check any additional information and correct any misunderstanding.

Reviewing the decision (Review)

If the matter cannot be resolved informally students may request a review of the decision to the relevant review officer using the Review of Decision Form

Appealing the decision (Appeal)

After the Pre-Review and Review steps, if the student is still dissatisfied with the outcome and there is an appeal option available, students can submit an appeal by completing a new review of decision form and selecting the appeal option.
