Learn to describe, understand and predict behaviour

If you're fascinated by the human mind, and why people can be caring, cruel, irritating, creative or wonderful — and sometimes all of those — a degree in Psychology will give you a broad understanding of the way human beings relate to each other.

You'll also acquire skills that can be applied to a wide range of promising careers.

Griffith is a leader in psychology education in Australia. Our strong focus on applying psychological knowledge and skill-based courses is unique, and essential if you are to provide effective assistance for people with personal, health, vocational or social difficulties.

Study psychology at Griffith

Giving you an excellent foundation

Griffith is ranked in the top 200 for Psychology in the world by QS World University Rankings. Many of our lecturers have earned national teaching awards for excellence, including University Teacher of the Year.

You’ll learn how to evaluate and understand tests that measure intellectual, behavioural, and emotional states, and to apply psychological theories to areas such as thinking and perception, stress, health, criminal activity and group behaviour.

Start your study in one of three trimesters, and give yourself the flexibility to plan your study load to suit your needs.

We offer a number of degrees which emphasise different aspects of psychology study, and their likely career paths:

  1. Our new Bachelor of Counselling will enable you to make a real and potentially immediate difference in people’s lives. You’ll apply your 350 hours of on-campus training in counselling to placement opportunities.

  2. The Bachelor of Psychological Science is our most flexible degree, perfect if you want maximum choice. It’s the ideal platform to study a double degree paired with Business, Exercise Science, Law or Criminology.

  3. The Bachelor of Psychology with Honours is the pathway to the major commitment of becoming a registered psychologist. In its fourth year, you’ll begin research training and be introduced to professional practice.

5-Star Rated

Psychology at Griffith is rated 5-stars for Educational Experience, Skills Development and Teaching Quality by the Good Universities Guide 2018, a leading independent provider of high-quality education and career information.

Lauren King

Griffith Psychology Graduate

For student Lauren King, the chance to study psychology at Griffith has been a gift after moving from her hometown of Albury, NSW and being offered a Griffith scholarship. 'I had always dreamed of studying psychology in a warm coastal environment once school was finished, but I was also concerned about the financial implications as I knew that I would have to support myself,' she said. 'I was really keen to get up to Queensland and knew that I would be able to make a success of things, whatever happened. It just so happened that the letter from Griffith came on the day I was leaving!'
