Develop the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing global environment

Studying humanities and languages at Griffith, you'll develop a deeper understanding of societies, cultures and people, and how to communicate effectively with them. You'll also have access to internships and practical experiences to enhance your skills and potential, and develop the confidence to not only adapt to change, but lead it.

Study humanities and languages at Griffith

Gain a deeper understanding of the world to meet complex communication and cultural challenges.

Hear from School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science Professor Sidney Dekker and Associate Professor Halim Rane; Brooke Sharwood, Marketing Assistant at Harbour Town Shopping Centre; Montana Lowrey-Palmer, Bachelor of Journalism / Bachelor of Business student; Ola Tariq Mohamed, Bachelor of Public Relations and Communication student; and Dean Barker, Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Business graduate.

Develop real-world skills and knowledge

We play a major role in education and training for federal and state government, and work closely with arts and industry organisations and community services to provide responses to contemporary issues. Our degrees are informed by industry and government, which means you can be confident you'll graduate with the skills employers want.

Create more career paths

You can complement your professional interests with study in a wide range of areas including sociology, security studies, politics and international studies, literary studies, creative writing, Islam—West relations, Indigenous studies or history, to create your own unique skill set. Plus you'll have access to an extensive range of internships, practical experiences and overseas travel opportunities to enhance your knowledge, skills and potential.

Learn a language

The ability to communicate in other languages and understand cultures will help you in almost any career you choose. Studying a language at Griffith is the next best thing to learning in the country of origin. We specialise in Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and Italian. You can deepen your knowledge and understanding by studying linguistics, the science of language.
