Get a hands-on education across various digital formats using the most advanced facilities, including an on-campus cinema. Acquire a thorough grounding in the history, practice and critical analysis of film. You’ll have the choice of electives in editing, producing, cinematography, directing, scriptwriting, sound, visual effects and production design, among many others. You’ll also take courses in screen production and screen distribution, which will help you learn about finding support and audiences for your screen production work.
Facilities and resources
Access high-end digital cinema cameras and dollies, LED lighting and sound recording equipment consistent with current local and international industry practice. Computer labs running industry-standard 2D and 3D animation software alongside real-time game engines are used to develop craft skills and prototype new projects.
Studio facilities allow students to work on sound stage, multi-camera, motion capture and virtual production projects, then complete them in our post-production suites, recording studios and 95-seat cinema.
Industry exposure
Your studies will be enhanced by a supervised work placement and regular exposure to national and international artists-in-residence working across film and screen media production. Build your portfolio and develop vital contacts and networks through our key industry links. Work on projects for real clients through our commercial multimedia production arm, LiveLab, led by BAFTA award-winning creative director Richard Fabb. LiveLab works with local creators to produce global online content and were a part of the Queensland Creative Entrepreneurship Program, that brought together YouTube, the Queensland Government and LiveLab to offer content creators world-class skills.
